Weather influences safety, sequencing, material storage, curing, waterproofing, and finish quality—not only the completion date.
Build weather allowance into the programme
Seasonal rain, high temperatures, fog, and wind can restrict excavation, lifting, concrete work, coatings, and deliveries. Allowances should be visible in the programme.
Protect earthwork and materials
Provide drainage paths, stable access, covered storage, and protection for cement, timber, boards, electrical products, and finishes. Recheck excavations after heavy rain.
Manage concrete and masonry
Temperature, wind, and rain affect placing, finishing, and curing. The project team should follow the approved mix, placement method, protection, and curing requirements.
Treat waterproofing as a system
Substrate moisture, rain, surface preparation, details, protection, and cure time all matter. Flood or pond tests should follow the specified method before covering the work.
Record weather disruption
Daily records help distinguish planned work, unsafe conditions, delayed deliveries, and remedial measures. They also improve future sequencing decisions.
